Keynotes July 2009

KeyNote

My Goodness - I blinked, and there went June and most of July! - an eventful time around here, that's for sure: we had to postpone our showcase in Cape Town at the beginning of June with SIX working hours to go, thanks to the opening of Parliament, which impacted on road closures around our host venue The Townhouse Hotel Conference Centre.

THAT was a first in our history, and hats off to Cheryl Hepburn, our new lady in the Mother City - as well as the ultra efficient ladies at the hotel - for regrouping so professionally.

And so it was that I flew into Cape Town on the 23rd, in the middle of a storm that cost hundreds of people their homes, and some of them even their lives. I can honestly say that - as neurotic a passenger as I usually am - that was the scariest landing I have ever experienced and I must salute the SAA pilot and crew who held their nerves under those conditions and got us on the ground safely. It's not often one has reason to compliment our national carrier, but I think that particular flight and landing warrants a positive mention!
The showcase the next morning was a resounding success, as I'm sure those who made it - despite the inclement weather - will attest to. Click here to see a full run-down as well as some testimonials from a few of the attendees.
Friday the 26th saw our Breakfast with best-selling "Spud" author, John van de Ruit, as well as our new Rising Star, Mark Bernberg with his presentation about the relationship between the world's fastest-growing sport, Poker, and the business world. 160 people joined us at The Indaba Hotel, who generously sponsored the venue and breakfast, and I'm sure everybody who was there will agree that it was one of our best breakfasts ever. A special mention must go to Trevor Mathibela and his crew at the Indaba for his brilliant attitude and service that morning. What a pleasure to work with such a professional! Well, that's it from me for now, we have more exciting events planned for the near future, so we'll be in touch about those shortly.
In the meantime, stay warm and dry - and remember that we're here to help you make your next event memorable, magical and meaningful!

Warm regards
